This is a story about how stars affect consciousness, how the brain creates a quantum of awareness in each of us, and how a new computer chip would allow us to do things that could never be done before. It’s a story about what the future will look like and the consequences of that future for how consciousness will relate to technology. The only thing that really separates this story from all the others that will be happening this year is that it is set in the future.
It almost sounds like the new “internet” that the Stanford University is developing will be a supercomputer that will allow us to “read” and control information from afar, much like a computer mouse. Of course it won’t be that far from your home, as the internet is already here, but it’s still a step forward.
The stanford internet observatory sounds like it may very well be the best thing that ever happened to us in this weird internet age. The only problem is that it is still a long way away. In fact, the closest thing to it we’ve come to is a very expensive, high-tech brain implant that we would have to go through a few layers of security to get our hands on.
So we have a bunch of tech that does cool stuff, and a bunch of security that doesnt. What we’ve got going on here is a system that is essentially a giant computer in your head. You don’t have to worry about anything because the computer is always online and will always work for you.
So in theory, this could be a very cool way to experiment with your own brain. Imagine, for instance, that you were trying to figure out why you had an idea for a video game and you were struggling to come up with new ideas, but with stanford internet observatory, you would have a “computer in your head” that would allow you to experiment and figure out why you had ideas.
This would certainly be useful and not at all silly. But it would also be very cool and very useful. So how would this benefit those who suffer from stanford internet observatory? Well, since the computer in the brain is constantly recording, we should be able to see what your ideas are for a particular game and then figure out how to implement them in the game as we go along.
